Hey, I'm Colin.
Originally from Thunder Bay ON. I grew up in the outdoors, hiking, biking, cross country skiing and canoeing. I love being in nature and immersed in a variety of ecosystems. This led to me pursuing an education in environmental management. I have an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Management and Masters of Science in Forestry from Lakehead University.
In 2020 I moved to Campbell River on Vancouver Island. I have found Vancouver Island to be a haven, with a large diversity of landscapes, plants and animals. I have fallen in love exploring everywhere, from the mountains to the coast, sometimes on the same day and always with a camera in hand.
My Photography Journey
I have always been drawn to photography’s ability to preserve and share life’s experiences. I loved taking photos with my family's point and shoot camera while we backpacked around South America in 2007. I later moved on to using GoPro's as a way to document my adventures both at home and abroad. I didn’t start taking photography seriously until I picked up a Sony a6000 in fall 2019.
My increased interest in photography was followed soon after by a move to the West Coast where I was hooked by the ability to capture and share the beauty that is Vancouver Island. My passion for the outdoors is communicated through my imagery.
I feel that I am still beginning my photography journey and am always looking for new, creative ideas. I also resist being in a box and take images from wildlife to landscapes, portraits to sports. The camera has given me a creative outlet and the ability to create art. I hope to inspire others to get outside and experience the natural beauty of our world.
Me in the Wild

In the Mountains
I think it is in human nature to want to stand on the top of mountains. Being from the land of small mountains, I always dreamed of climbing peaks. It is definitively one of my happy places, watching the sun set far below me.

On the Water
Growing up on the largest freshwater lake in the world (Lake Superior), it only feels natural being around water. What excites me about the West Coast is the huge biodiversity in and along the water.

Above the Clouds
Through my day job as a drone pilot and silviculture surveyor, I have been blessed with an aerial perspective. I love finding different points of view in my photos.
